The Retreat Standards Organisation wasn't created in a boardroom.
It was created around retreat tables, airport lounges, WhatsApp groups and countless conversations with retreat leaders who were trying to do the right thing but didn't always know what "right" looked like.
After years of organising retreats through Retreat Yourself and supporting retreat leaders behind the scenes, we saw the same challenge appear again and again.
The retreat industry has grown rapidly.
More coaches, wellness practitioners, facilitators and community leaders are creating incredible retreat experiences than ever before.
But many have never been taught:
• When Package Travel Regulations apply
• Whether financial protection is required
• What documentation should be in place
• How to protect participants
• What happens if something goes wrong
Most retreat leaders aren't intentionally ignoring compliance.
They simply don't know what they don't know.
At the same time, retreat participants have no easy way of identifying which retreats are operating professionally and responsibly.
We created The Retreat Standards Organisation to change that.
Not to create unnecessary bureaucracy.
Not to make life harder for retreat leaders.
But to provide a practical pathway that helps retreat leaders understand, achieve and demonstrate high standards.
Because when retreat leaders are supported, participants are protected and the entire industry benefits.
